Each year, millions of people unite on the National Day of Prayer—at thousands of events around the country—to pray! While prayer is not a seasonal or annual thing, our nation pauses to observe a National Day of Prayer on the first Thursday every May.

That’s the day we celebrate what we have been doing all year long! Join us, wherever you are, and if you do not know of an event in your area, or you would like to organize one yourself, call me.

2024 Theme

For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness.

For by You I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.

This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true;

He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.

~ 2 Samuel 22:29-31

National Day of Prayer Events

(all buttons open in a new tab)

The Congress has called on the President to issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a
“National Day of Prayer.”

Public Law 100-307

as amended

Pray for …

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying…”        [Ephesians 6:18]

God created our minds to learn, with the greatest abilities to increase brain growth occurring before the age of 25. Pray for students, teachers and administrators.

Jesus established the church to continue the work He began on Earth. Pray for your brothers and sisters, the Body, the Church.

God unashamedly used the military when necessary. We too have men and women who serve and protect us. Pray for them and their leaders.

God puts into power whom He chooses. And Scripture calls believers to pray for those in authority, regardless of political party or allegiance. Pray for them.

God designed us to work. So, divisions of labor and trade of goods and services has been a consistent occupation for people across every era and time period. Pray for employees and businesses.

God demonstrated the ultimate creativity when He created the Heavens and the Earth and all that is within it. Pray for Godly media.

God established families at the foundation of the world, creating Eve from Adam’s bone, and growing children from their union. Pray for families.
